Midget Information

Midget Program Overview

Midget Football is the elite minor football Program in the Province of Alberta. It can best be compared to AAA level hockey and is often referred to as All-Star level high school football. Players at this level are 15-18 years of age and are not yet in Grade 12. The Program is governed by the “Calgary and Area Midget Football Association” which was formed about 7 years ago to organize a Spring League (Feb-May) which would further develop the skills of the best high school players in the city between fall football seasons.

All games in the Midget League are played at the new field-turf fields at Shouldice Park. Games are generally played on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, and there are occasional Saturday morning games. During the season the team practices and/or reviews game film at least 3 nights per week.

Teams play for a City Championship Trophy. Wildcats Midget Teams often compete in the City Championship game and were victorious in that game in 2007.

Our Coaching staffs at this level are extremely experienced and the majority of our Coaches have had extensive formal training through Football Alberta and other teaching institutions. There is a high degree of continuity on the Coaching Staffs each year, with many Coaches having worked with the Wildcats Program for 10 years or more.
