Bantam Program Overview
Bantam Football is a highly competitive level of football for players who are 13-14 years old. The Wildcats play in a League operated by the “Calgary Bantam Football Association”. This 13 Team Association has been in existence for over 50 years and operates a highly organized program with a published schedule, well documented rules and a specified playoff structure. Teams play for a City Championship., a Southern Alberta Championship and ultimately a Provincial Championship. Wildcats Bantam teams have a proud history, including the winning of numerous championships.
All games in the Bantam League are played at the new field-turf fields at Shouldice Park. Games are generally played on Saturday mornings and afternoons, and there are occasional weekday evening games. During the summer the team practices 4 nights per week (Mon.-Thurs.), changing to 3 nights per week when school starts again in September.
Our Coaching staffs at this level are extremely experienced and the majority of our Coaches have had extensive formal training through Football Alberta and other teaching institutions. There is a high degree of continuity on the Coaching Staffs each year, with many Coaches having worked with the Wildcats Program for 10 years or more.
